As the Christmas season quickly approaches, so has the snow in the Northeast. This past weekend they have really been shown a good example of early, heavy snowfalls as most areas received around one foot of snow. Flights were cancelled and many area residents were stuck inside their homes due to bad road conditions and cold temperatures. Over 10,000 tons of road salt and 2,000 vehicles were out to try to clear roads but many workers found themselves working long hours to keep up with the heavy accumulations. From the Northeast the snow moved to the Midwest where we saw snow but not quite as much as those to the North. Along with this came shipment delays with mail. All in all we need to bundle up and bundle up for what looks to be a cold and snowy holiday season.

Palin Back On Air
You previously may have heard the name due to her tv show Sarah Palin's Alaska, but recently news has spread that she will be re-joining the network with a new show. "Amazing America with Sarah Palin" will air in April on the outdoor channel. This show will be highlighting women in the outdoors and their potential successes. It also is going to be used as a way to inspire others to get outside and enjoy all they have been given. I am interested to see how the turnout will be in the end personally since I am interested in the outdoors as well.

Paying To Not Have Money?
Being homeless isn't exactly the thing to be most proud of, but according to this gentleman it is a way to have some sort of cash flow. Currently living in Seattle and homeless himself, Mike Momany plans to have a "crash course" in order to have people experience his ways of living. Previously he worked as a contract programmer but sooner than later the company went broke due to slow business and he was left in the gutter...literally. Although nobody has signed up quite yet he hopes his plan will work not only for him but for many other people not as privileged as well. It is estimated to be around $2,000.00 per customer with about $500 of each paying customer's dollars going to local shelters to provide them with clothes necessary and to give back. He hopes it will be a learning more awakening experience for the public.

Cuffed With A Chicken
After being charged with intentional child abuse inflicting serious injury, false imprisonment, and cruelty to animals, Dorian Lee Harper and Wanda Sue Larson are in some serious trouble. Police in North Carolina found a foster child at the age of only 11 to he handcuffed to the front porch in the cold with a dead chicken around his neck. The boy was adopted along with 4 other kids and were all taken away to an agency where they will be cared for until new placement is found. Larson also worked with social services so is also getting charged for those faults. Being handcuffed apparently was a form of discipline. A $500,000.00 bond is set and authorities are still investigating.

(Insert Name Here)
We've all heard of the one child per household rule that applies in many overcrowded countries such as China. When you are that second child, what happens to you? The twenty year old dreams of one day going to school and being like all of the other kids but she is that second child and because of this has no identity. She was an unexpected and unplanned for baby but her parents decided to go on with the pregnancy and now she is paying the consequences. Along with not being able to attend school she also is not covered under any medical insurance and her parent's only way to avoid this is by paying a fine of $820.00 in which they cannot afford. Education is something many people often take for granted, and complain about. Maybe you should think about that next time you walk into your school building.

Holocaust via E Bay
After discovering items from the Holocaust were reported "for sale" on E Bay, the company has been put into the middle of a big controversy. A British Sunday newspaper reported people finding items such as concentration camp uniforms and armbands with the yellow Star of David on it up for bidding. Spokesmen say they are very sorry and have already taken hold of the situation and have removed the items. 30 items were reported removed from the site and in return the company has made a donation of $40,000.00 to charity expression their sincere apology. It is disgusting to think people like this would even think about doing something so inhumane. What has our world come to?

Brooklyn Stabbing
A family of five is dead after they were all stabbed to death in their New York apartment. All stab wounds were made to the upper body and the people died immediately. The Brooklyn family's children were between the ages of 1 and 9. One person was taken into custody but they're aren't sure of the relationship and if that is even the correct killer. No charged have been placed yet and police don't have any evidence as of why this happened. Further investigation is underway. Why they were targeted we don't know but hopefully the remaining family members will get the justice they deserve.

Baby Trade
After admitting to selling 3 known babies in order to have extra money for un-needed accessories, Teng and Zhang, China, were arrested. After nearing about $13,000 worth of their own children, they were finally arrested after the police received a tip saying the advertisement was placed on a local messaging board. Selling their kids allowed for the couple to purchase things such as iPhones, high end new shoes and computers. One of the girls have been found and the other two babies are still yet to be found. Because of China's 1 child per family policy, selling children in China has been a problem in the past. The parents of this crime said they "wanted to be able to give their children a better life" not to say something to try to cover up what they did. The mother remains on bail and the father is currently in jail.

Cold Case Re-Opened
After nearly 22 years, a young girl, "Baby Hope", was claimed to be Anjelica Castillo who was a 4 year old at the time from New York. Conrado Jaurez, 52 was named responsible for beating the girl to death and sticking her in an ice chest along Henry Hudson Parkway. Since the day of the murder on July 23rd, 1991 police have been continuing to look for clues leading to information about the girl's name and the person responsible. While answering a phone call, investigators received a tip that the man in charge of sexually molesting her and putting her in a garbage bag inside of the cooler was in fact her cousin on her dad's side. The 4 year old was never reported missing.

Woman Bit by Tiger
While working at an Oklahoma zoo, a female employee stuck
her arm into a tiger’s cage and was bit.
According to zoo owner Joe Schreibvogel of The Garold Wayne Interactive
Zoological Park, the woman was taken to a hospital after she violated safety
regulations and is in stable condition. The left arm was grabbed by the male
tiger when the woman’s jacket got bunched up in the wire enclosure and kept her
from being able to pull it back out in time. Within two minutes of the
accident, paramedics arrived and she was air lifted for surgery. The woman
plans to return to work and takes blame for her foolishness.

Killer Bees: More Than Just A Name
Because of the recent hot, dry weather and land development
in China, the people are finding themselves being attacked. Since July 1st
of this year, the country has been responsible for 583 hornet stings and out of
those people nearly 30 are still being hospitalized. The most recent attack about
600 people was stung and from those people we know at least 19 have died so
far. China Mayor Lu Qui has addressed the public and is investing more time and
money into regional hornet control. The Asian Killer Hornet, the one thought to
be the suspect, has been known in the past to be a killer.

Teenagers After Mother's Liver
A mother is recovering in the hospital in Spokane,
Washington after being attacked by her son and her son’s friend. According to
reports the boys were planning to kill the 13-year-old’s mother and eat her
liver. When it came time to take the woman out the teens decided it would be a
better idea to beat her to death with a sword handle. After committing this
crime they quickly fled to the 14-year-old’s house and stole his father’s car
which later was found to be used in a hit and run. From here the kids attempted
a burglary and were later arrested while fleeing the scene. The son’s mother
warned police her son had been taking some sort of blue pills. Authorities
these hallucinogens may have been the cause of all of this chaos.

112 Year-Old Man Dies
The world's oldest man, Salustiano Sanchez, who recently took up the title in June of this year was pronounced dead last Friday at a New York nursing home. Believing that eating a banana a day could keep a healthy life, this man also enjoyed gardening, music, rummy and puzzles. "Shorty" as called upon by his close friends followed in the footsteps of his predecessor in dying only of old age. He leaves behind many family members going all the way back to great-great grandchildren. Only about 10% of these titleholders have been men, making it an accomplishment along with the fact that he had proof of birth which is the main reason other elderly men and women have not been officially able to hold the title. The world's oldest person was in fact a woman and she died at the age of 115.

Ride Gone Wrong
Last week in Connecticut while enjoying a Norwalk Oyster Festival, parents found themselves concerned about the safety of their children. These passengers were on a swing ride when the ride suddenly stopped and the kids collided into each other. Officials say 18 of the riders were injured when they smacked into both one another and the base of the ride. Owners of Stewart Amusement said it was a mechanical error, a problem that went unnoticed in the inspection that took place only two days before the accident. According to reports, 12 children and 1 adult were taken into a hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The company's only concern is the condition of the injured passengers.

Flying Daycare: Nanny on Board
When anyone is planning a vacation they imagine how great everything will be; the hotel, the scenery and the local attractions. One thing people tend to forget about is the plane ride. There is nothing more annoying than listening to young children scream while passing time on a flight. As of this year Etihad Airlines has been supplying help to flustered parents by serving airborne children meals and keeping them distracted by playing games, doing magic tricks and planning age grouped activities. This is a no cost service provided by the airline using highly trained staff and by the end of the 2013 year they hope to have 500 so called "Flying Nannies". Personally I think this is a great idea not only being able to supply help on the parents end, but also making it easier for other travelers to get to and from a destination more peacefully.
